Our client is a growing and highly innovative AmLaw 200 firm with more than 700 lawyers and almost 20 offices across the country.
The firm’s insurance coverage group represents some of the largest insurance carriers in the world in every segment of the insurance sector including health, property, liability and auto, cyber, environmental, and marine, among others. This group has been incredibly busy and because their business continues to grow, the team is now searching for a Senior Counsel.
The Senior Counsel will be responsible for analyzing claims, reviewing, and analyzing insurance policies, drafting coverage evaluations and reservation of rights letters, as well as extensive communication with clients regarding coverage issues and coverage positions. The position may involve some projects in support of litigation but please be aware – this is not a litigation position and if you have an interest in being in the courtroom, this is not the role for you.
The Senior Counsel role is not a partnership-track position. This is a role with reduced billable requirements and is a great fit for an experienced lawyer wanting to do interesting and challenging work without the pressures of litigating or generating business. This is a highly collaborative group that offers a fun and team-oriented culture but also quite a bit of autonomy.
This attorney can sit in one of the firm’s many offices in the Midwest or can be fully remote.
The ideal candidate for this role has at least eight years of practicing experience, ideally with insurance coverage matters. This candidate should have strong academic credentials and excellent writing skills. Candidates who do not have insurance coverage experience but have experience working with insurance companies, such as those in insurance defense, may be considered.
